Ep 4: Is Jesus alone enough to attract people to church?

Ep 4: Is Jesus alone enough to attract people to church?

In our previous podcast we discussed the concept of belonging, and how should one come to belong in a church. But, that brought up some big questions: Is belonging the primary way we attract people to church? How and when does the Gospel of Jesus Christ get encountered by someone who is new to church? For the purpose of this episode, we focused on a particular question: “Is Jesus alone enough to attract people to church?” Listen in for a dynamic discussion on the church, evangelism, and “meeting Jesus”.

Show notes:

Pastor Lloyd referenced a quote from Corrie Ten Boom: “You can never learn that Christ is all you need, until Christ is all you have.”

We also made reference to Mark 16:15: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

Pastor Ryan referenced a sermon by Tim Mackie where he compares sharing the Gospel with talking about his favourite taco restaurant.

Pastor Lloyd referenced Matthew 16:18: “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”

Pastor Lloyd quoted John 17:11 talking about the church being a unified community: “I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.”
